Wilberfoss 1 – Top Division 5

York 1 are in touching distance of retaining the division 1 title of the FLITL after demolishing bottom club Bishopthorpe 75-35. Pocklington remain second despite losing 71-37 to Wigginton, who were inspired by the Bradshaw sisters, Eleanor and Anna, taking 28 games. Angela Wood and Charlotte Todd finished undefeated for Castlegarth as they beat Dunnington to score precious points in their fight to stay up. York seconds were only able to field two couples so lost heavily at David Lloyd.
Fulford look to have regained the upper hand in division 2 after a comprehensive 70-38 victory over David Lloyd. Rufforth fell to defeat by Starbeck, Helen Halsall and Dee Nolan leading the Harrogate club to their fourth consecutive win. The trusted partnership of Rosie Cantrell and Hilary Spencer starred for Poppleton as they overcame Pocklington in their battle at the wrong end of the table. Lorraine Peary and Dominique Morrissey bagged 23 games to help Boston Spa see off local rivals Castlegarth.
Wistow and Fulford continue to battle for the second promotion place in division 3 behind leaders Dunnington. Both teams logged victories, Wistow at Copmanthorpe and Fulford hammered Bubwith 81-27, aided by a 31 game contribution from Pam Campbell and Su Watson. Sarah Mawby and Andrene Watson racked up 29 games for Bishopthorpe in their comfortable win over Knaresborough, it may be too little too late for Bish though, as they look in deep trouble near the foot of the table. There were no such worries for high flying Dunnington as the maintained their 100% record, defeating Boston Spa 72-36.
Cliffe remain top of division 4, captain Jane Pemberton teamed up with Sue Midgley to score 28 games in their 66-42 defeat of Appleton, whilst Helen Brown and Kerry Rafton were unbeaten for Wigginton as they overcame Tollerton by the same score. Rowntree Park checked Heworth’s progress as they cruised to a 64-44 win. Anna Morley and Fenella Hobson helped Sutton to a tight 56-52 win at Riccall to move them out of the relegation zone.
Division 5 leaders, Wilberfoss, annihilated lowly Fulford 92-16, Gerry Screeton and Caz MacKender achieving an outstanding maximum 36 game haul for Foss. Elsewhere New Earswick beat Copmanthorpe to edge towards mid table safety.
Dunnington look to be closing in on the division 6 title as they dispatched Knaresborough 62-46. Liz Powells and Philippa Page bagged 26 games for Rufforth as they cruised past David Lloyd 61-47.
